Bobby Rees was born in Maysville, Kentucky, and moved to Little Washington when he was seven years old. He grew up in a neighborhood off River Road that had a boat harbor - and that is where he learned to back a boat trailer and drive his first boat at the age of ten. From fishing numerous tournaments off Hatteras Island to living aboard his 42-ft Pacemaker Fly Bridge Sport Fisher for over five years, his life is intertwined with the waters of the Pamlico River and beyond.
Bobby received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from NC State University and has had a diverse career, spanning roles at Carrier Corporation in Syracuse, New York, and Raleigh, NC; the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC; Hackney & Sons; and Fountain Powerboats in Washington, NC. He also participated in Naval Aviation Projects at the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point. Additionally, he holds an Electrical Contractor’s License with the State of North Carolina and is a Licensed Professional Engineer registered in both North Carolina and Maryland. He is certified with the Association of Energy Engineers as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
Captain Bobby holds a 100-ton Masters License with the USCG.
In his free time, you can find him on the Pamlico River with his daughter Danielle (pictured below), traveling to Ocracoke or Harkers Island, or hanging out downtown Washington.
